Ruth Furman (published under the name Ruth Hamburg prior to her 1999 marriage) worked as a reporter, copy editor, staff writer and magazine features editor for publications including the South Bend Tribune, Indiana Daily Student, IU Newspaper, Do-It-Yourself Retailing Magazine, Partners magazine and others.
A terrific job offer motivated a switch to the public relations side of the fence and a move from Indiana to Chicago in the 1990s.
While public relations and marketing is the bulk of her Las Vegas-based business these days, Ruth still enjoys writing for consumer, business and trade publications (Hardware Retailing and the Nevada Business Journal, among others) to keep her "editorial" writing skills honed and her PR pitches "real."
(Ruth Furman has a degree in journalism from the Indiana University School of Journalism.)
